New Delhi, January 16

A day after very high ammonia levels were reported in water supplied to various parts of the national Capital, Delhi Jal Board said the situation would normalise by tomorrow morning.

Due to rise in pollution level of the river Yamuna, the production of drinking water was curtailed at the Wazirabad, Okhla and Chandrawal Water treatment Plants yesterday. The ammonia level had risen to 3.8ppm against the permissible limit of 0.2 ppm, in the raw water available at the plants.

The supply under the command areas of these three WTPs will be fully restored by tomorrow morning, said a senior DJB official.

“Wazirabad plant functional at 75% , Chandrwal at 60% .. situation improving every hour... evening supply will be 100% normal,” tweeted Water Minister Kapil Mishra.

Earlier during the day, he tweeted that partial production from Chandrwal Plant started this morning and production is increasing in phases while thanking people of the city for cooperation.
