Two arrested in armed bank dacoity that killed cashier at Khaira village

Two of six accused — Sachin (20) from Murthal and Parvesh (19) from Sonepat — were arrested in the armed bank dacoity committed with the murder of cashier of Corporation Bank at Khaira village on October 12.

As per a senior police officer, information was received at Chhawla Police Station regarding firing incident at the Corporation Bank. The injured Santosh Kumar Sharma, the cashier of the bank, was shifted to Vikas Hospital, Najafgarh but he succumbed to his injuries.

Bank manager Prahbakar Kumar’s statement was recorded. He said that at about 3:00 pm, six boys entered the bank, manhandled the guard and snatched his gun. Three were carrying pistols. They fired at the cashier and robbed Rs 3.16 lakh. The assailants had also taken away the guard's gun. They all were muffled faces, said police.

Police analysed CCTV footages, remained in the area till late night and zeroed down a few criminals on two-three motorcycles fleeing after the incident. The criminals’ descriptions were collected and sources were deployed to identify them. A specific tip off came and the local police raided a few hideouts at Sonepat and recovered one Apache motorcycle used in the commission of crime by the accused persons from village Ujwa, the officer said.

All the accused have been identified and several teams have launched a massive manhunt in Delhi and Haryana to nab them, police added. — TNS
