New Delhi, April 26

BJP state president Manoj Tiwari urged the Delhi Government to allocate the land APMC to East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) for developing a new landfill site in northeast Delhi.

Tiwari said in a larger public interest “I urge Rural Development Minister Gopal Rai to cooperate in the matter and persuade the Delhi Government to allocate the 70 acre plot of its department APMC near Tikri Village for landfill site. This plot is lying unused for around 15 years”.

Tiwari said, “Though we are working out to ensure that the Yamuna bank is not polluted due to the proposed EDMC landfill site but the silence of Rai on the matter is very shocking.”

He said over 20 lakh people of east Delhi, especially Ghonda, Karawal Nagar and Mustafabad, will be directly affected by the adverse effects of the proposed landfill site and they expected the minister to be vocal on this issue, but his silence has shocked the people.
