A shootout between Delhi Police personnel and robbers near Akshardham temple was reported today.

Two traffic police officials posted at the spot said, three motorcycle-borne men were coming from the wrong side when they were intercepted. One of them opened fire at a police team while others were able to flee the spot.

However, no one was injured in the incident and the robber was overpowered.

According to the DCP a robber fired at the police team in the Pandav Nagar area near the shrine, after which one person was nabbed. The other was also nabbed after a chase, a police official said.

They were trying to flee after attempting a robbery in Pandav Nagar, he said.

The security has been tightened in the area. — TNS
