New Delhi, October 12

Youth wing of Delhi unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Badal said that instead of levelling allegations against others, former general secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Gurmeet Singh Shanty should think of vegetable scam of Rs 5 crore in which he was allegedly involved.

Youth Akali Dal leader Satbir Singh Gagan said during his tenure as general secretary of the DSGMC, Shanty had allegedly prepared fake bills of Rs 5 crore for purchasing vegetables in 120 days. All the bills were prepared in one writing.

Gagan said that all the bills proved that Rs 4.12 lakh were spent for purchasing vegetables in one day. Former joint secretary Kartar Singh Kochar had got registered a complaint of this scam in Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police. But the case was subsided by former DSGMC president Paramjit Singh Sarna elevating the position of Kartar Singh Kochar and demoting Shanty.

Shanty had alleged that DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK had withdrawn Rs 51 lakh from DSGMC account after a cheque of donation of the same amount given by a foreigner was deposited in the same account. He had also alleged that the DSGMC had got published 52,000 books of Sikh heritage on exorbitant prices without following a procedure adopted by the gurdwara committee.

Denying the allegation, Shanty said “whenever I raise corruption issues in Manjit Singh GK-led DSGMC, SAD leaders threaten me of vegetable scam.”

“Kochar had got registered the complaint against me when I had left the SAD (Delhi) led by Sarna brothers,” Shanty said.
