New Delhi, December 21

The Delhi unit of Congress today held a massive demonstration in Jahangirpuri here protesting against the "inflated drinking water bills" the residents of the area have been getting.
"Delhi Jal Board has been sending inflated bills to the consumers... People have been getting bills up to Rs 40,000. The increase in drinking water bills has made people's life miserable," Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh told the gathering.
Singh wondered how could residents of the resettlement colonies with incomes ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 per month pay a huge water bill of Rs 40,000.
The Delhi Pradesh Congress president said if the Congress party is voted to power in the coming Delhi Assembly elections, it will completely stop the present practice of levying services and sewage charges, which would give a huge relief to the people.—PTI
