New Delhi, November 7
As millions of people in the NCR face difficulties in commuting due to Delhi government’s odd-even road rationing scheme, a Noida-based lawyer on Thursday moved the Supreme Court challenging it on the ground that it was arbitrary and went against statutory provisions.
“Odd-even is nothing but a political gimmick for self-promotion and advertisements in the smoke screen of curbing pollution, and violated fundamental rights of citizens,” petitioner Sanjiv Kumar alleged.
On Monday, the SC questioned the rationale behind allowing diesel-run taxis to ply while CNG-run private cars faced restrictions. — TNS
