A 22-year-old labourer was killed and three others were injured when the basement of an under construction building collapsed in south Delhi's East Kidwai Nagar this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Subodh. He belongs to Bhagalpur, Bihar and had arrived at Delhi to search for a job. He is survived by his wife and two children. The other three injured workers have been identified as Rajesh (24), Subodh (25) and Brahmdev (45).
The incident took place at about 9 am. Eight labourers were digging a basement at the spot. The pile of soil beside the spot fell on four of them.
"Some people tried pulling the labourers from beneath the soil, while the others called the police," said a police officer.
The four labourers were removed from underneath the soil and rushed to a hospital, where one of them died of suffocation, according to the police.
The police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence against Indu Projects, the company which was developing the land.
According to sources, all the labourers working at the site protested against the company for the poor  standards of safey at the site of accident.
