A group of four robbers had decamped with precious jewellery, some cash and US dollars from a Safdarjung enclave residence last week as part of a plot hatched by its servant, the police said today, after arresting one of the accused.

The arrested has been identified as Amarjit, a resident of the Tagore Garden area, by the Crime Branch. A gold bracelet, one platinum bangle and one gold chain have been recovered from his possession.

According to the complainant Niyati Nagpal, four persons possessing weapons barged in and asked for the keys of the locker on July 30 afternoon when she was present at home with her children and her maid Kavita and servant Ranjan.

“The robbers tied their hands and closed their mouth with the help of adhesive tape and ran away with diamond and gold jewellery, some cash and US dollars,” said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
