New Delhi, January 14

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of its president Ajay Maken, will gherao the Reserve Bank of India office at Parliament Street on January 18 at noon as the RBI had failed to do its constitutional duty at the time of demonetisation.

This will be the first protest action by the Delhi Congress in the second phase of the “Jan Vedna” campaign.

The Congress workers will assemble at Jantar Mantar before marching towards the RBI office at Parliament Street. The Congress workers will raise two demands while gheraoing the RBI office – removal of withdrawal limits on money and no transaction charges for cashless payments.

AICC co-ordinator Dr Raghubir Singh Kadiyan said the second phase of the “Jan Vedna” campaign started on January 12 and would conclude on February 20.

Kadiyan said after the gherao, the DPCC would hold a state-level Jan Vedna convention in which faulty implementation of the demonetisation drive and difficulties caused to the people on account of it would be discussed. — TNS
