New Delhi, December 14

Enforcement authorities are scanning the Indian and overseas properties of the Delhi-based lawyer Rohit Tandon, in whose office Rs 13.65 crore cash was found early this week.

While the police and the Income Tax authorities are investigating the matter, but no case has been registered against him so far.

“Rohit Tandon is in the office and has been cooperating with the IT and the Delhi Crime Branch Department and is still being questioned at his residence in Greater Kailash part-1,” said the personal assistant of Tandon.

Tandon’s alleged links with properties in Dubai and London among other places and financial implications are also being investigated.

A senior official said authorities were also probing his bank accounts overseas and were looking at the legality of the purchase of his properties overseas as well as two houses in south Delhi’s Panchsheel area.

Moreover, a well known industrialist recently sold a bungalow in Jor Bagh area for Rs 100 crore to Tandon.

Tandon’s statement is being verified by the investigation through his call records and bank statement. According to a senior police official during questioning on his calls to several influential people, Tandon claimed he was lobbying for the post of high court judge.

However, another senior police officer said while Tandon styled to be a corporate lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions, no big firm had hired him in the past. His profile appeared to be more of a property dealer-cum-liaison work.
