NEW DELHI:A Canadian woman was held at the airport for allegedly carrying 14 gold bangles worth over Rs 38 lakh, a Customs official said on Wednesday.

A Canadian woman was held at the airport for allegedly carrying 14 gold bangles worth over Rs 38 lakh, a Customs official said on Wednesday. 

She arrived at the Terminal-3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Sunday from Dubai, he said. 

The woman was intercepted by Customs officials after she had crossed the Green Channel, the official said. 

Following a search, 14 gold bangles weighing 1,110 grams were recovered, he said, adding that the total tariff value of the gold was Rs 38,44,119. — PTI
