Prominent Sikhs to be part of DSGMC, says Sirsa

NEW DELHI:The DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said to establish transparency in the gurdwara committee renowned community personalities would be included in its administrative work.

The DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said to establish transparency in the gurdwara committee renowned community personalities would be included in its administrative work.

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Sikh intellectuals who are not part of the DSGMC. They suggested including community persons in the DSGMC administration to maintain transparency.

Renowned community persons will be included in each organisations run by the DSGMC.

Sirsa said to run all the services of the DSGMC in a proper and transparent manner, separate councils would be constituted, including finance committee, education council, medical council, religious publicity council, etc. Elected members of the DSGMC and community members will be included in these councils, but community members will be more empowered.

Talking to mediapersons, Sirsa said, "We neither want to criticise others nor we want to be alleged by them." He said 'golaks' are not opened by the DSGMC. They are opened by the bank in which the donation is deposited.

Sirsa said, "We have not taken services of the gurdwara committee to earn money. We want to do something memorial so, in future the gurdwara administration is run properly and all departments go ahead."

He said in the meeting all invitees gave meaningful suggestions and the best of them is to constitute councils by including renowned community members.

He said the decision would be implemented with 15 days in a general house meeting.

Those attended today's meeting included MS Kohli, Iqbal Singh Anand, former MP Trilochan Singh, former Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University Jaspal Singh, Vikram Singh Sahni, Lieutenant General Bhullar, Avtar Singh Hit, Bishan Singh Bedi, Variyam Singh, Rajbir Singh, Rupinder Singh, Kulwant Singh Bath and Ranjit Kaur.
