New Delhi, April 24

A fire broke out at a multi-storeyed shopping-cum-office building near the Netaji Subhash Place Metro station in north-west Delhi.

No casualty has been reported in the incident which took place at about 4.30 pm today. Twenty fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a fire official said.

The building houses various offices and shopping units.  The complex, Pearls Business Park, lies close to Netaji Subhash Place Metro station near Wazirpur bus depot.

"The fire engulfed the eighth floor of the building. No one received any injury because the offices (in the building) were closed for the weekend," an official told reporters.

The incident came to light when security guards saw smoke billowing from a ventilation panel on the floor of the building and raised the alarm.

The fire was found to have originated in an office.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained. The area has several multi-storey shopping complexes and is crowded with shoppers both on weekdays and weekends.

It is also a home to several banks and corporate offices.
