New Delhi, July 20

A mobile app to encourage children to read was launched at the MCD headquarters here today.

Around 150 schools of the SDMC will use this app to encourage reading habits among schoolchildren.

The mobile app is part of “Read to Kids” educational programme run by global non-profit Worldreader.

“Read to Kids” app can be downloaded through a 2G internet connection and will help parents, caregivers and teachers to read books and tell stories through a mobile device to inculcate reading habit among schoolchildren.

“Early literacy is widely considered the single most important determinant of a child’s later educational outcome. This is why we are thrilled to be launching the programme in India in partnership with Pearson’s Project Literacy initiative,” said Bhanu Potta, Board Member, Worldreader India. — TNS
