New Delhi, February 21

Following the arrest of its two MLAs for allegedly attacking Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, the AAP today alleged its party lawmakers were being “hounded” for belonging to the Dalit and minority communities.

AAP senior leaders refuted the charges claiming party MLAs — Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan — were arrested without any evidence.

Addressing a press conference, AAP senior leader MP Sanjay Singh said the Delhi Police is yet to take action in another case of assault against Hussain and Delhi Dialogue Commission’s vice-chair Ashish Khetan at the Delhi Secretariat even though they had submitted a video evidence of the attack.

Another party leader Ashutosh claimed an attempt is being made to disrepute the party. He questioned the arrest of two AAP MLAs saying, “In the meeting on Monday at the Chief Minister’s residence there were eleven MLAs and yet only Prakash Jarwal, a Dalit MLA, and Amantullah Khan were arrested. Why?”

Charged with playing the minority card, the AAP defended its stand with Singh claiming, “Dalits were being targeted in BJP-ruled states.”
