New Delhi, January 11

A 43-year-old man and his son were allegedly shot dead by a group of men outside their residence in southwest Delhi's Chhawla area.

The deceased were identified as Vinod, owner of a dairy farm at Shikarpur village in Chhawla, and his teenage son Kamal, who runs a vegetable shop.

The incident is suspected to be the fallout of a long-standing rivalry between gangs in the area, fighting for supremacy over land.

The prime suspects in the case have emerged to be two criminals who have been at large for the past two months and are considered rivals of gang head Manjit Mahal, who is also wanted by the police, said a police official.

The incident took place around 8 pm today, when a gang came to Vinod's residence and asked for him. Vinod came out and entered into a heated argument with the group. When his son tried to intervene, one of the men whipped out a gun and shot at them.—PTI
