New Delhi, June 12

In a drug de-addiction centre of southeast Delhi, Jeevan Raksha Foundation, a man, Amit Bidhuri (29), a resident of Madanpur Khadar, was beaten to death, said a police ofiicial. Bidhuri was admitted to the centre just a day before by his family members.

As per the DCP Chinmoy Biswal, the investigating officer found the body lying on the centre’s ground floor with multiple contusions on lower part of the body with blood stains around it.

Last night, Sumit Arora (30), the caretaker, came along with two unknown friends in an inebriated situation. He then abused all inmates and beat some of them. He saw Bidhuri in a drunken stupor lying on the ground. He had passed stool, the foul smell of which enraged Arora, who then started beating Bidhuri with a wooden rod. After beating, Arora slept in drunken stupor on a nearby bed. Finding Bidhuri dead in the morning, Arora ran away.

The inmates called the owner and the manager of the centre, who called the police, added the DCP.

However, as per inmates, Bidhuri had a fight on some issue and in the scuffle, he was grievously injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
