Man arrested for daylight robbery in Punjabi Bagh

A 28-year-old man who was wanted in a daylight robbery of Rs 80 lakh committed in southwest Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area last month has been arrested. 

The accused has been identified as Puneet Anand. 

On July 28, a PCR call regarding the robbery was received at the Punjabi Bagh police station. The complainant Aman Mittal stated that he works as a field boy in Mayur Sales Corporation having office at KD-69, Kohat Enclave, Delhi, police said. The firm functions as a wholesale company for the sale of rice and he with another employee, Shubham, collects money from the retail purchasers and then deposits it in the account of firm at ICICI Bank, Asif Ali Road. In this task, he is helped by ICICI Bank employee, Ajit. 

On July 28, he with Shubham left Kohat Enclave office of the said firm carrying Rs 80 lakh in a bag for depositing it in ICICI Bank, police said. Shubham was driving a scooty and he was a pillion rider carrying the bag.

At about 10.30 am while they reached an underpass near Punjabi Bagh flyover, four boys riding two motorcycles came and intercepted their way forcing them to stop. One of the motorcycle riders pointed a pistol at him and the other boy took out the key to his scooty. They robbed him of the bag containing a sum of Rs 80 lakh after which they ran away. A case of robbery was registered in connection with the incident. 

The police said the robbers had allegedly followed the victim from the area of Rani Bagh which is in North-West district. After the incident, three accused Ajit, Ashu and Mukesh were arrested.
