Man arrested for cheating poor on pretext of providing cheap houses

NEW DELHI:A man, Rajinder Kumar Tripathi (57), involved in fraud and cheating of poor in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna has been arrested on January 3, said a police official.

A man, Rajinder Kumar Tripathi (57), involved in fraud and cheating of poor in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna has been arrested on January 3, said a police official. The accused was also hosting a website and was using the picture of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation to promote his organisation.

Addl CP (Crime) Dr Ajit Kumar Singla said Tripathi duped about 1,500 to 2,000 poor people to the tune of Rs 3 crore on the pretext of providing cheap housing.

He also duped four advertising companies to the tune of Rs 1 crore on the pretext of collecting earnest money for giving tender to organise Rashtriya Awas Divas. Tripathi was declared a proclaimed offender in another case of cheating and was absconding. — TNS
