New Delhi, July 10

AAP legislator Prakash Jarwal alleged that an illegal liquor supplier fired three shots at him on Wednesday during the inaugural event of a water pipeline in Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. The police, however, denied the claim.

Jarwal, who represents Deoli Assembly constituency, said the incident occurred at 10 am. Rajesh Sahashi fired three rounds at him and threatened him with dire consequences while he was inaugurating the pipeline on Sangam Vihar Bandh Road. The police said they had not got any written complaint from the MLA.

Jarwal alleged the accused was chasing him for some days and police had taken no action despite his requests for security. “My life is in danger. I will formally lodge a complaint with the police,” he told the media. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said: “We have not received any complaint. The firing was not seen in the CCTV footage collected from the spot.” —IANS
