LG reviews chikungunya, dengue preparedness

NEW DELHI:Lt. Governor Anil Baijal today directed all stakeholders to immediately activate standard operating procedures (SOP) for prevention of dengue and chikungunya cases and told all concerned agencies to assign field duties to its officials for supervision of the work as per SOP.

Lt. Governor Anil Baijal today directed all stakeholders to immediately activate standard operating procedures (SOP) for prevention of dengue and chikungunya cases and told all concerned agencies to assign field duties to its officials for supervision of the work as per SOP.

In a review meeting of preparedness to tackle the vector borne diseases that was attended by Health Minister Satyendra Jain, chairman, NDMC, commissioners of the three MCDs, besides many other top officials, Baijal said these SOPs should be brought in public domain for awareness purposes and role of every stakeholder must be clear so that there is effective implementation for control of mosquito breeding.

The Lt. Governor asked the stakeholders to share copies of their action plans, so that there is coordinated action. All construction agencies like DDA, DMRC, PWD, DJB, DUSIB, Railways, etc., were directed to make available details of all procedures on their websites for information dissemination. The schedule of visits of officials of the three corporations, Health Department, NDMC, etc., should be widely publicised.

He observed that field duties assigned to officials must be strictly monitored while adding that circulars and directions be issued in all government departments/private institutions to hold internal meetings or group meetings to identify the areas in their respective premises where breeding can happen and find ways to sort out source reduction.

The Lt. Governor directed the Health Department and other agencies to ensure that stocks of all logistic, including mosquito nets, medicines etc., are available.
