IPL betting racket busted, four held

With the arrest of four accused, Rajesh Sharma (48), Azad (39), Arif (24) and Mohd Salman (28), teh Northeast District police has nabbed IPL betting racket and recovered the instruments used, said police.

Yesterday, information was received that the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket is flourishing in a house at Chand Bagh here. At about 6 pm, a raid was conducted in the said premises and it was found that all the gamblers were noting down bets on IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals team with the use of mobiles and a laptop, police said.

Four gamblers were caught red-handed. A stake amount of Rs 30,000 was also recovered from their possession, said the DCP. — TNS
