The Delhi government has issued standard operating procedure (SOP) to various city agencies concerned, including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Public Works Department (PWD) and civic bodies, for taking immediate measures to contain air pollution in the national Capital.

The steps advised to be taken include sprinkling of water by the PWD, MCDs, DDA, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on roads and cracking down on polluting vehicles by the transport department and taking stock of garbage burning in open by officials concerned in the capital.

The environment department has asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), industry department, sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and assistant commissioners of police to ensure that the ban on diesel generator sets (barring those meant for essential services) was enforced in their respective areas.

The department has asked the special commissioner (traffic) and commissioner (transport) to step up the drive against the polluting vehicles in the national Capital.

Then the commissioners of the three corporations, principal secretary (PWD), Delhi Fire Services and DDA have been asked to send tankers to sprinkle water on the roads.
