Fill potholes in 24 hrs of issuance of directions, PWD staff told

The Public Works Department,Delhi government, has instructed its officers to repair potholes on the roads in the city within 24 hours of the issuance of directions.

All officers are supposed to carry out regular inspections of the PWD roads under their jurisdiction for prompt recognition of potholes so that corrective measures are taken at the earliest.

The direction came following a meeting convened recently by PWD Engineer-in-Chief Rakesh Kumar Agrawal. Officers have been told to work out a mechanism prompt recognition and fixing of potholes. The PWD is said to be responsible for the maintenance of around 1,260-km roads in the capital.

The department has also directed officials to initiate works of ramp and remodelling of toilets in government buildings to make them more accessible to people with special needs. In this regard, department is currently carrying out an audit of all government buildings it has constructed.

The deadline for completing the audit is June 30. Once it is completed, an exercise would be undertaken to make them differently-abled friendly.
