Filing of nomination begins; Feb 8 last date

Filing of nominations for the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has begun today. The last date of nomination is February 8.

A senior official of the Directorate of Gurdwara Election said that scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on February 9 and the last date of withdrawal is February 11. The date of polling is February 26 and the results will be declared on March 1.

There are a total 46 wards and around 560 polling stations throughout Delhi for smooth conduct of election process. The electoral roll for each ward has been uploaded on the Directorate’s website along with the list of 23 Returning Officers for each ward.

To observe the conduct of gurudwara elections 25 observers have been appointed. Around 3,000 polling officials will be performing various duties while conducting the gurudwara elections.

There are a total of 3,80,091 electors, out of which 1,92,691 are male and 1,87,400 are female electors as on December 28, 2016. During last elections held in 2013, the male and female voters were 2,10,718 and 2,00,500 respectively.

Panthak Dal clamours for GK’s resignation

The Panthak Seva Dal today marched from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara to Jantar Mantar and demonstrated there demanding resignation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh (GK) for his alleged double standard.

Convenor of the Seva Dal, Avtar Singh Kalka, AAP MLA from Kalkaji said that during election campaigning in Bhatinda, DSGMC president had asked the electorate to keep distance from Dera Sacha Sauda and other deras. But his party MLAs have taken support of Dera Sacha Sauda.
