DSGMC plans Guru Nanak Bagh, Sikh heritage site

NEW DELHI:Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said a park to be named as Guru Nanak Bagh would be developed on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary celebrations of the Guru.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said a park to be named as Guru Nanak Bagh would be developed on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary celebrations of the Guru. Besides, a Sikh heritage site would be constructed in the state.

Beautiful saplings from around the world would be planted in the park. He said that schedule of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary would also be advertised at Metro stations and in airline magazines.

Sirsa said in his leadership a delegation of the DSGMC met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and submitted five proposals, including developing a garden, constructing a Sikh heritage, and highlighting the programme scheduled for Guru's birth anniversary at Metro stations and in airlines magazines. This would help people coming from outside Delhi and foreign countries.

The minister accepted four proposals and told the delegation that the Union Ministry would develop the garden itself on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. He said that for construction of Sikh heritage work would be started soon. —TNS
