New Delhi, April 8

Former MLA and DSGMC member Tarvinder Singh Marwah today said the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) did not belong to a particular party. This is a religious body of the Sikh community.

He said during election the contestants follow the party line. Once they are elected, their job is to forget the party and do service for the community and the religion. The DSGMC is a religious body.

Condemning the allegations levelled against him by a senior member of the SAD, Kuldeep Singh Bhogal, he said he had no office in Gurdwara Bala Sahib. There are three rooms used for office. One is used by the Gurmat Prachar Sabha, the second is used by the Navjawan Sewak Jatha and the third room is occupied by a sub-committee of the gurdwra.

“I have installed a photo where timing of the meeting with the people is written. I visit there to work out the difficulties being faced by the community in the area. I represent the area in the DSGMC. It is my duty to meet the people, listen to their complaints and work them out,” Marwah said in a press conference.

He said according to the Delhi Gurdwara Act, a member of the opposition party is taken in the executive committee. “When Baldev Singh Rani Bagh of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) led by Sarna brothers had withdrawn his name from the executive committee membership, the DSGMC members had proposed my name. Thereafter, I was included in the executive committee”, he said.
