General House of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee today dissolved following resignation of all executive board (EB) members including president Manjit Singh GK and general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

However, till the election of executive board members, former general secretary and former officiating president Harmeet Singh Kalka will look after the committee affairs, said Sirsa after the general house meeting.

He said that the DSGMC would submit the report of resignation and an affidavit before the court appealing for permission of election of the EB before time.

This has happened following the court stayed the EB election to be held today. The court said that preponement of election was illegal.

When asked if holding the general house meeting after the stay order was violation of court's order, Sirsa said that court had stayed election not the meeting.

Senior leaders in the DSGMC are unable to understand why independent member Gurmeet Singh Shanty, who filed a case of alleged financial corruption against former DSGMC president GK, former joint secretary Amarjeet Singh Pappu and former general manager Harjeet Singh Subedar, got a stay order against the EB members election.

The sources said that had the election not stayed, Sirsa would have become the president.

GK said that in the past, EB members election had held before time. Election was also delayed once or twice. The preponement of election was not proposed for the first time.

The sources said that some misunderstanding between Shanty and the SAD Badal forced him to approach the court for the stay order. They said that Shanty was nobody’s friend. He had hit former DSGMC president Paramjit Singh Sarna after a misunderstanding. Now he has hit SAD.

Denying all this, Shanty said that there was neither understanding nor misunderstanding. “I took action because preponement of election was illegal.”
