DMRC asked to improve cleanliness near stations

NEW DELHI:After reviewing various aspects of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) functioning with its MD Mangu Singh, Secretary of Urban Development Ministry Rajiv Gauba asked the DMRC to focus on improving cleanliness in the surroundings of metro stations and evolve an institutional mechanism for regular engagement with the large and growing number of Metro users.

After reviewing various aspects of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) functioning with its MD Mangu Singh, Secretary of Urban Development Ministry Rajiv Gauba asked the DMRC to focus on improving cleanliness in the surroundings of metro stations and evolve an institutional mechanism for regular engagement with the large and growing number of Metro users.

While appreciating the DMRC for its unwavering focus on ensuring highest standards in respect of punctuality, safety, rolling stock utilization, hygiene inside the stations, Gauba suggested that attention need to be given to cleanliness in the vicinity of metro stations, though it is the responsibility of civic agencies.

He suggested that the DMRC MD should have regular meetings with the respective Municipal Commissioners and senior police officers to ensure cleanliness and hassle-free entry and exit for Metro users. The DMRC should be forthcoming to spend more, if required to enhance presentation of the surroundings the metro stations, he stressed.

The Urban Development Secretary also suggested that the DMRC should engage the large number of metro users on a sustained basis for making them partners in further improving the brand value of the Delhi Metro and by acting promptly on user feedback to the extent feasible.
