Four men have been apprehended for allegedly committing five robberies in central and north Delhi, said a police officer today.
The accused have been identified as Ravi (25), Krishan Kumar, alias Raju (29), Manikant, alias Bittu (21), and Kishan (24).
"The joint operation of officials from the Gulabi Bagh police station and Operation Cell, North District, led to the arrest of four robbers who were involved in five incidents of robbery. Rs 2 lakh, a gold chain and a FZ motorcycle have been recovered from them," said Madhur Verma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North District).
Verma said in the past, robberies have been reported from various parts of Delhi like Daryaganj, Gulabi Bagh, Kotwali, Civil Lines and Sarai Rohilla.
In order to apprehend the criminals involved in the incidents, a joint team of officials from the Gulabi Bagh police station and Operation Cell was constituted.
The police raided the hideouts of the accused and apprehended them.
"During their interrogation, it came to light that this gang operates on tip-offs given to them by their informer Manikant in Chandni Chowk and Kucha Ghasi Ram markets.
They only targeted businessmen carrying cash on two-wheelers. The informer informed the gang about the victims carrying cash, their descriptions and vehicle numbers.
When the victim left the destination, the robbers chased them on motorcycles and committed robberies at isolated spots by threatening the victims with weapons," said Verma.
