New Delhi, August 23

The Aam Aadmi Party welcomed the Delhi High Court order setting aside the Lt Governor, Anil Baijal’s April 12 move cancelling the allotment of 206, Rouse Avenue, to it for office space.

The Lt Governor’s order was “illegal, undemocratic” and the party’s stand has been vindicated, said AAP leader Raghav Chadha addressing reporters here.

The AAP also challenged the BJP and the Congress to make public the number of properties and plots of land under their possession across the city.

According to the AAP, the cancellation of the party office allotment by the Lt Governor was part of a “joint conspiracy hatched by the BJP and the Congress in collusion with some retired bureaucrats” with an aim to disrupt its functioning.

Otherwise it was beyond any reasonable understanding as to how the allotment of an office to a party which won 67 seats in 70-member Delhi Assembly elections could have been cancelled without citing any reason. On the other side, both the BJP and the Congress have several premises for their use across the city.
