The Ambedkar Nagar police station received a call on January 10 about the body lying on Pahadi at Dakshin Puri. When the police reached the spot, they found it was that of a man aged about 20-25 years and was partially burnt. Some blood-stained stones were found lying near the body, the police said.

A case was registered and investigation was taken up on January 12 after the identification of the body. Following technical surveillance, accused Vikram along with Suraj of Mini Subhash Camp in the city was apprehended from Jahanpanah City Forest and interrogated at length.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that Vikram had loaned Rs 35,000 to Chetan a year ago. As Vikram was unemployed of late, he sought his money back, but the deceased refused to return it.
