Chaos in NDMC House amid chants of Modi, Jai Shri Ram

The first session of North Delhi Mayor Preeti Aggarwal turned stormy on Thursday with the Opposition Aam Aadmi Party and Congress members objected to the entry of "unauthorised" people who were said to be chanting “Modi, Modi” and “Jai Shri Ram”.

“Soon after the new Mayor took charge, the Opposition members objected to the presence of “unauthorised” people in the House. It is learnt that several outsiders had gathered on the corridors of the Civic Centre.

During the oath-taking ceremony, some BJP councillors raising “pro-Modi, pro-Yogi, and pro-BJP slogans” that was strongly objected by the AAP and the Congress whose leaders later entered with an argument with the new Mayor.

Leader of Opposition Rakesh Kumar (AAP) and several Congress councillors claimed that many supporters of the saffron party had entered the House unauthorisedly and disturbed the proceedings by chanting “Modi, Modi and Jai Shri Ram”.

The AAP councillor from Ajmeri Gate termed it “failure and mismanagement” on the part of the municipal authorities while registering his resentment over outsiders' entry into the House.
