The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an official of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Baljeet Rathi Kanoongo for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant.
The agency registered a case on the basis of statement of the complainant under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Kanoongo at Subhash Nagar on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from the complainant for allowing construction on a plot in the Anand Parvat area.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused for accepting Rs 2 lakh as part payment from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of Rs 5.5 lakh (approximately).
