NEW DELHI:A speeding car ran over four men sleeping at the central verge of Mathura Road in South East Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Friday, killing one on the spot and leaving three critically injured.

A speeding car ran over four men sleeping at the central verge of Mathura Road in South East Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Friday, killing one on the spot and leaving three critically injured. 

Car driver Abhishek Dutt, a resident of Pankha Road, Delhi’s Janakpuri area, was arrested by the police. He was under the influence of liquor and lost his control that led to the accident, said DCP South East Chinmoy Biswal. 

The police took him into custody and a case under Sections of IPC 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) was registered against him. Further investigation is underway. —TNS
