In Sangam Vihar, Southeast Delhi, a youth threw acid on a shopkeeper’s face following a minor argument over buying “paneer” yesterday, said a police official. The shopkeeper has been admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre and his condition is said to be critical. The accused is absconding after the incident, said the official.

According to a resident of Sangan Vihar, Rinku Singh, “The victim, Yogesh, runs a dairy with his father in the area. Two days ago some youths came to buy ‘paneer’ and Yogesh’s father told them that ‘paneer’ had been finished. But youths in spite of being refused went inside the shop and started an altercation with Yogesh. And after sometime they went away.”

The incident did not end there. Yesterday they again came and started fighting with Yogesh. As the argument heated up, one of the youths threw acid on Yogesh’s face and ran away. Yogesh’s father took him to AIIMS Trauma Centre and lodged a complaint at the Sangam Vihar Police Station.
