Bawana bypoll on August 23

NEW DELHI: The Bawana Assembly seat will go for by-election on August 23 and the counting of votes will take place on August 28. The dates were declared by the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi and a notification in this regard was put on its website.

The Bawana Assembly seat will go for by-election on August 23 and the counting of votes will take place on August 28. The dates were declared by the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi and a notification in this regard was put on its website.

The seat had fallen vacant after AAP MLA Ved Prakash switched to the BJP days ahead of the municipal polls.

The BJP has fielded Prakash who will take on AAP nominee Ramchnadra, a former Bahujan Samaj Party candidate for the seat while the Congress is pinning its hopes on its three-time legislator MLA Surender Kumar from the constituency.

The AAP has started campaigning in the constituency with its Delhi unit chief Gopal Rai today visiting some areas in the northwest district seat. Besides the three major parties, the BSP too is expected to do its best.
