New Delhi, November 10

A suspected criminal, drawing inspiration from popular Bollywood film 'Agneepath's' villain character, was arrested here along with his two accomplices when he had come to kill a businessman, police said today.

Yesterday, the police learnt that one Lokesh Chauhan alias Chunnu (21) and his associate Jai Singh (27) would be coming near Vardhaman Plaza, Matiala to meet their other associate Dharampal alias Pradeep (27), they added.

A trap was laid and when the police team surrounded the trio, Chauhan pointed a pistol at one of the constables, the police said.

Chauhan was overpowered and the trio were nabbed. Four illegal pistols and seven live rounds were seized from them, the police said.

During an interrogation, Chauhan revealed that he was arrested for the first in a motorcycle theft case and was lodged in Bhondsi jail for seven days in that case, Shibesh Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), said.

While he was in the jail, he befriended many hardened criminals and thought of making a name for himself in the world of crime, Singh said.

He was arrested in a case of attempt to murder in Gurgaon and was in jail for over three months before being released on a bail over a month back, the official said.

Chauhan was given a contract of Rs five lakh for killing a man in Dwarka. He, along with his associates, had planned to kill him and was out to execute his plan when they were nabbed by the police staff yesterday, they said.

He is fond of Bollywood movies and draws an inspiration from popular Bollywood film 'Agneepath's' main villain character 'Vijay Deenanath Chauhan' played by Amitabh Bachchan, the DCP said.—PTI
