New Delhi, September 14

When an architect combines the design ethos of historical monuments with the aesthetics of modern art, every canvas becomes not only a thing of beauty, but also a reminder of how sustainable architecture is both necessary and possible.

Delhi-based architect Vidur Bharadwaj (VB), Director, The 3C Company, has turned artist-par-excellence with his first solo show in the Capital titled “Soul In Structure”, which will be showcased at Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi from Sept 16 to Sept 22.

Combining the architecture and design elements of historical monuments and cities (that he has also used to build some of the most renowned and award-winning edifices in the city) along with his own artistic interpretation of sustainability and environment, VB has created 15 canvases in mixed media that are an extension of his persona as the driving force behind the Green Architecture in the Capital and NCR.

Inspired by a haveli construction with courtyards and windows, the painting also has elements used to design the sustainable building of Wipro Technology.

The famous ghats of Banaras have been the inspiration behind the design concept of ‘IHDP’. The painting highlights the pictures of the IHDP project in Noida.

Says VB, a graduate from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi: “In today’s era of glass buildings, we are losing the basic essence that made all earlier buildings sustainable in themselves. It has always been my conscious effort to make my projects socially, economically and environmentally responsible buildings”.
