AAP pitches hard for statehood; Kejriwal reminds PM of his 2014 promise

The AAP is aggressively pitching for statehood for Delhi, an issue on which the party is all set to corner the incumbent BJP in run-up to the Lok Sabha election before which plans to reach out to people in the capital with how they have been meted out with “step-motherly treatment” by the latter.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today launched an all-out attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reminded him of his promise of granting statehood to Delhi before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The AAP supremo said he is ready to stage a sit-in, if need be, at the Prime Minister's residence for the demand of complete statehood status to Delhi as he, along with his ministerial colleagues, had done inside the LG house over their demands.

“If need be, we will enter the Prime Minister residence and hold a dharna for this demand,” Kejriwal said at an event organised by the Bar Council of Delhi at Tis Hazari Courts.

In a series of tweets, the AAP chief urged PM Modi to fulfill his promise saying that people of the national capital have been meted out with injustice since 70 years.

“Before becoming Prime Minister Modi jee had himself raised voice for statehood for Delhi. Today when he is the Prime Minister people of Delhi want to remind him of his promise,” Kejriwal said.
