New Delhi, March 22

Hitting the Aam Admi Party (AAP) directly for attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said AAP convener and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was repeatedly flouting Model Code of Conduct by playing with religious sentiments.

He is indulging in deliberate and malicious attempt to hurt religious sentiments. He is guilty of grossly violating the code of conduct by posting a cartoon on March 20 depicting a man with broom (election symbol of the Aam Aadmi Party) in hand chasing 'Swastik' held in great reverence by Hindus, Gupta said.

Just a few days ago, the AAP had posted a picture of a cow and a calf at the door of a house. The picture was captioned “BJP’s door to door canvassing”.

In February 2016, the AAP had made fun of Lord Hanuman by sharing a cartoon, said Gupta. It showed that at a event in Mumbai, a fire broke out at Make in India event. The entire stage got burnt, on the other hand there is lot of screaming in JNU criticising the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shown standing on burning stage. The cartoon presented Amit Shah as Hanuman coming after setting Lanka on fire and saying “Done sir, all attention is on JNU”.

He said BJP leaders are going to meet the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi and the Commissioner of Police tomorrow to lodge complain against Kejriwal’s malicious post on twitter.
