A 70-year-old woman was strangled to death in her house in Najafgarh.

The woman, Muktyari Devi, was alone when some thieves entered the house. They decamped with jewellery after killing the woman, said a police official.

The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon when Muktyari was strangled with a piece of electric wire, said the official.

He son Ravi Chikara, who a social worker and connected to various religious organizations, was not present at home at the time of the incident.

The body of the woman has been handed over to the family after the postmortem.
