A fire incident was reported at 11.30 in the morning from a JJ cluster behind the Nizamuddin dargah area in southeast Delhi. No one was injured though more than 30 jhuggies caught fire.

Eight Delhi Fire Service brigades were rushed to to the spot. According to a DFS officer, it took around one hour to douse the fire.

According to a police version, the fire was intentionally lit as the DDA owns the land and a demolition drive was going on.

A JJ cluster resident Naeem said, “We have been living in the area for more than two decades. Now the DDA wants us to vacate the land and it started demolishing our houses. During the demolition, some people who were cooking food started running from the place which led to the fire."
