New Delhi, June 27

Reservation for city students in 28 DU colleges, a House committee report on desilting of drains, and weightage for Delhi-domicile aspirants in teacher recruitment will dominate the proceedings during a two-day special session of the Delhi Assembly starting tomorrow.

A senior government official said AAP MLAs are also likely to table a resolution demanding ownership rights to those who were allotted small plots of gram sabha land under the Centre's 20-point programme around four decades ago.

However, the government has not made public the entire agenda for the session, which BJP MAL Vijender Gupta alleged is a tactic to "deprive" the Opposition of any chance or possibility to raise any issue. "The government shrouds the agenda under the secrecy as per its cunning strategy...It is an attack on democratic functioning of the government," Gupta said.

An official said, "On the second day, the MLAs will raise the issue of reservation for city students in 28 DU colleges that get financial aid from the Delhi Government. A resolution in this regard may be passed by the House. It has been a long-pending demand." Earlier this month, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had asked his deputy Manish Sisodia to explore if quota can be fixed for local students in the 28 DU colleges.

Besides, Petition Committee of the Delhi Assembly, headed by AAP MLA Sourabh Bharadwaj, is likely to table its report in the House on desilting of drains by the PWD and the municipal corporations ahead of monsoon. — PTI
