New Delhi, February 10

The AAP government's proposed five new English medium "schools of excellence" with selected teachers and up-to-date facilities will "perpetuate inequality" and the step may end up promoting segregation among students of government schools, going by the concerns of student activists.

Students of some Delhi government schools joined activists of KYS and PDSU to hold a protest demonstration outside the Chief Minister’s residence against it.

They also condemned the government's move to encourage students who failed in Class VIII to take study vocational subjects claiming doing so will only push them towards correspondence schools. — TNS
