‘Chandrakanta’ director’s son booked under POCSO

New Delhi: ‘Chandrakanta’ director Nirja Guleri’s son was booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act for allegedly ‘inappropriately touching’ a six-year-old boy in Lodhi Garden, said the police on Monday. They said the preliminary probe revealed that the 45-year-old man was “mentally unstable”, but only a medical examination would be able to confirm it.  PTI

Will take “conscious” decision on hefty fines: Gahlot

The Delhi Government wants to provide respite to people from steeply hiked penalties under the amended Motor Vehicles Act and will take a “conscious” decision on it, said Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Wednesday. He said the government was taking feedback from the stakeholders and looking at how other states were moving on it. pti 

Trucker fined Rs 1.41 lakh

A trucker from Rajasthan paid a penalty of Rs 1.41 lakh after being caught for overloading by the enforcement wing of Delhi Transport Department, an official said. The truck, having a Rajasthan registration number, was caught by the enforcement team on Thursday, said the transport department official. The driver paid the penalty of Rs 1,41,700, at Rohini court on Monday, he said.  PTI
