Youth was found dead after spat with girl

A female acquaintance of the youth, whose body was found with a bullet injury at Sector 20, was questioned by the police. She revealed that they had an argument over some issue after which she left the spot. The victim had come to meet the girl, a native of Sangrur, who was staying as a PG in Chandigarh. She was known to him for the past two years. The police have ruled out any foul play in the incident.

The victim, Pushpinder Singh, a resident of Sangrur, who was found dead on Monday evening near a government school, had come to meet the girl, who is pursuing an air hostess course from an institute in Sector 34.

There is a CCTV camera near a house in which the duo is seen talking to each other. The girl then left the spot, leaving the boy behind.

Soon, the police were informed about a body lying near the school. The pistol of the victim’s father, from which the bullet was fired, was found in a bag near the body. The victim’s father, Jagroop Singh, is a jeweller, who was not aware that his son was carrying his pistol along.

The victim’s cousin, Satwinder Singh, said they did not suspect any foul play in the incident.

The autopsy was conducted at the GMCH, Sector 32.

No complaint was submitted by the victim’s kin.

Inquest proceedings have been initiated at the Sector 19 police station.
