Youth’s death: Another accused held

CHANDIGARH: The police have arrested another accused for allegedly dumping the body of his 18-year-old friend near Nada Sahib in Panchkula.

The police have arrested another accused for allegedly dumping the body of his 18-year-old friend near Nada Sahib in Panchkula. The victim, son of a UT constable, had died under mysterious circumstances.

The accused has been identified as Gagandeep Singh. Earlier, the police had arrested one Manbir Malhotra. Both accused were the victim’s childhood friends. The victim, Anirudh, had been missing since June 14. He had gone to the market, but did not return home. His family reported the matter to the police. Anirudh’s decomposed body was found from Nada Sahib on June 18.

It was learnt that the accused had dumped the victim’s body in Panchkula after he died.

A CCTV footage of a hotel had established that both accused were with the victim. The police said Gagandeep had fled to Himachal Pradesh after the incident.

A case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 19 police station.
