Youth held; 7 stolen bikes, 5 cars recovered

Chandigarh, November 25

The police yesterday arrested a youth of Sector 25 while riding a stolen motorcycle and recovered five cars, seven motorcycles, an auto-rickshaw and nine mobile phones on the disclosure made by him. The suspect also used to commit snatchings in the city using the stolen two-wheelers.

According to the police, the suspect, Parveen, alias Gota, was arrested while riding a stolen motorcycle, bearing a fake registration number, near the Sector 25 colony.

He was stopped by the police and on verification, it was found that he was riding a stolen motorcycle.

A case has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.

Police sources said on the disclosure made by the suspect, motorcycles and cars, which were kept in parking lots in the city, were recovered.

The suspect, along with an accomplice, used to steal vehicles from the tricity and dump these in parking lots in the city. “The stolen two-wheelers were also used for committing snatching incidents,” said police sources.

The sources said more vehicles were expected to be recovered on the disclosure made by the suspect.
